"Outstanding Foundation”!  Richmond Community Foundation (RCF) was deeply honored to be bestowed this award at the recent East Bay Philanthropy Awards, a testimony to the impact RCF is having in the Contra Costa community.  RCF is a leading innovator in the field of philanthropy and sustainable community change, but you might not know the many ways our organization supports this goal!  RCF does this in three important ways: Coach, Connect, Contribute.

RCF coaches nonprofit organizations and its leaders through capacity-building workshops, trainings and support including the Community Leadership Institute (CLI).  This year, 15 organizations are participating in the CLI, including Frances Raeside from La Cheim school.  Frances says this about RCF: Richmond Community Foundation is an engine for good in the renaissance of Richmond – an agency with integrity, skill and heart, helping change agents do their work well and uplifting us all!

RCF connects through visionary leadership that fosters collaboration, partnership and innovation.  RCF has successfully created, expanded and broadened initiatives that have community-wide impact, including the West Contra Costa Literacy Coalition, focused on ensuring all students read at grade level by 3rd grade, and the Richmond Housing Renovation Program, which uses a new Social Impact Bond financing tool to reduce housing blight.  This program has attracted national attention from media and other cities hoping to replicate it in their communities.

RCF contributes by helping donors make impactful gifts in the community.  These include Menbere Aklilu who supports many local organizations and presents an annual Thanksgiving dinner for the unfortunate with her “Menbe’s Way Fund” as well the Richmond Mayor who made grants to support youth sports teams this year with the “Richmond Mayor’s Community Fund.”
